Pitbulls are known to have a bad reputation for being aggressive and temperamental, notorious for deadly attacks. There are countless of incidents where a Pitbull had mauled a human to death. Dangerous thoughts about a Pitbull have been ingrained into modern society's minds. Although the human behavior plays a significant role in dog bites, society was quick to judge and blame the dog for being uncontrollable.

However, a 10-year-old, family Pitbull has alleviated ill thought on its breed by rescuing its entire family from their burning house, in Wellston, Oklahoma. The house they had been living in for 17 years had suddenly filled up with smoke and flames.

The family's Pitbull, named "Baby", woke Rhonda Westenberger and her sister Evelyn up, and they managed to narrowly escape with the rest of their family out of the house, leaving their five other dogs in the burning house. Being the heroic Pitbull dog that she is, Baby ran back into the house, as fast as her four legs can carry her, and grabbed one other dog that was hiding under a bed.

"Baby the Pitbull, she went and nudged her, and kept nudging her," said Rhonda after the incident. She was glad that Baby would not stop pouncing on her sister and kept on barking at them. They only had seconds to escape from the fire.

"I look back and there were flames shooting down the hallway, if Baby hadn't had woke Evelyn up, I don't think none of us would come out of it." continued Rhonda.

"And then there was one that was hiding under the bed, that wouldn't come out and Baby had to grab it by the neck and dragged him outside." said Charles Land, Baby's owner.

The family lost 17 years of memories because of the fire but their hope isn't lost. One of the women suffered congestive heart failure and remains in the hospital.

"Baby always come across to use as one of the family, and this just proves it." continued Charles. The family is proud of Baby and truly believed in their hearts that Baby is their hero.
